Why Won't My Bathtub Hold Water?

Are your hopes of spending time in a relaxing bubble bath getting sucked out of the water (literally)? Don't be too depressed. If you notice that the water in your tub is draining quickly, the fix is typically very easy.

Follow the steps listed below, and you'll be at ease.

1. Find out the root of the issue.

If your bathtub isn't able to hold water, the issue most is likely to be in the drain stopper in your bathtub. It's fortunate that the fix for this issue usually will take about an hour, and you'll get back to enjoying the tranquil bath in no time! The first step to fixing your drain stopper involves taking off the cover plate for the drain stopper.

2. Lift the lever to reveal the linkage

The linkage can move the drain stopper either up or down. It is essential to examine the linkage to ensure it's connected correctly and working exactly as it is supposed to. To check this, simply pull the lever, then move it upwards to expose the connection completely visible.

3. Repair your connections

Use an instrument that is magnetic (you can purchase these at the local hardware retailer). Find the spring and plug, and connect it with the assembly.

4. Look for Tangles

The linkage could become bent or become tangled. Make sure that the linkage is pointing up straight and straight and also that the linkage pin that is at its top is secure. Replace this pin in the U-shape in case it's missing or damaged. After everything is aligned with the correct position, you can adjust how long the linkage runs so that it functions as intended.

5. Replace the mechanism and fill your bath

Install the mechanism in the overflow tube, and then replace the cover plate for the drain stopper. Verify the level to be sure that the linkage has been adjusted correctly. (If not, then repeat steps 1 to 4 until you are sure it is working!)
